Patricia (Pat) Akery Ms. Akery has served as Regional Marketing Director for PRS since November 2005, overseeing marketing for PRS Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Previously she worked for the Rogue Valley Manor, where she spent 10 years as Director of Marketing, helping to build the Manor into one of PRS’s most successful CCRCs. A native Californian, Ms. Akery has an additional seven years experience in marketing, advertising, and public relations in Los Angeles, California. She is on the Board of Directors for the Providence Medford Medical Center and has served for more than 10 years on the board of the Medford Jazz Jubilee. Jennifer Jacobs Since September 2003, Ms. Jacobs has managed the in-house multimedia advertising and public relations agency for PRS, overseeing a team of professionals who create advertisements, marketing materials, collateral, videos, TV ads, public relations, and events for PRS organizations and communities. Among those served are PRS Continuing Care Retirement Communities, affordable senior housing communities, and nonprofit Foundations, as well as golf courses and hotels. Ms. Jacobs has worked in the advertising industry since 1988. Prior to PRS, she was General Manager of one of southern Oregon’s largest advertising agencies, and a Regional Media Buyer, placing media for large multistate corporations throughout 10 western states. Under her management, PRS Media Services has expanded its services and garnered multiple National Mature Media Awards for PRS. Marc Johnson, MCSE Marc Johnson came onboard at Pacific Retirement Services in February 2002, first serving as Assistant Network Administrator/Computer Support Specialist, then as Director, and now as Vice President. Mr. Johnson oversees a team of application specialists, network and systems administrators, computer support specialists, and project managers responsible for maintaining, supporting and expanding I.T. services and systems for all PRS businesses and communities. He has managed I.T. systems and supported remote users since 1986 in the construction, retail, furniture, and trade school industries, and offers expertise in technical training gained as a business college Computer Lab Instructor. Mr. Johnson is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and a graduate of Trend Business College in Accounting and Computer Application Management. Beth Lori Ms. Lori joined Pacific Retirement Services in July 2006. She graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Suffolk Law School, Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Lori has practiced law in both the private and public sector for 20 years and is licensed in states of Massachusetts (inactive), Alaska (inactive), California, and Oregon only. Ms. Lori has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 1991. Hal Lottis, CDM, CFPP Starting December 1986, Hal Lottis served as Director of Dining Services at the Rogue Valley Manor for the past 16 years. In 2002, Mr. Lottis was promoted to Vice President of Dining Services for Pacific Retirement Services. In this position, Mr. Lottis oversees the dining operations at all PRS affiliated and managed communities, ensuring they meet PRS’s high standard of quality. Prior to joining the RVM/PRS team, he spent 14 years as the Food Service Director for a number of well-known CCRCs. He also has 10 years of experience in restaurant and industrial food service management. Mr. Lottis’ professional education includes the Dietary Managers Certification from Auburn University in Alabama, and the Baking School at Dunwoody Industrial Institute, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Diane Masson Diane Masson started her PRS career in December 2004, as Marketing Director for Mirabella Seattle. When development began for Mirabella Portland, she was promoted to oversee the marketing for both northwest Mirabella CCRCs as Regional Marketing Director. Prior to PRS, Diane was Marketing Director for another senior living community in Seattle and has spent 16 years in marketing and event planning. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing/Management from Central Washington University and a Certification from the University of Texas as a Certified Aging Service Professional. Diane is an active member of the Marketing Steering Committee for the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), and she's on a consumer education special task force for the Washington Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (WAHSA). She also represents Mirabella Seattle and its residents as an active board member of the South Lake Union Friends and Neighbors Community Council. Richard M. Mazza Mr. Mazza joined Pacific Retirement Services in July 2004 as the Vice President of Business Development and Planning. In this capacity, Mr. Mazza is responsible for assisting PRS with identification and evaluation of various growth and development initiatives. Prior to joining PRS, Mr. Mazza was the Director of KPMG LLP’s Western Region Senior Living Services Practice located in Sacramento, California. While there, he was responsible for business development and service delivery for all senior care, and business advisory services including: financial and market feasibility studies, development services, acquisition and merger due diligence, service and product repositioning, strategy, and operations performance improvement. Mr. Mazza also worked for Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc. as the Vice President of Finance / CFO where he oversaw all financial and development activities of a multi-site CCRC system, which included six retirement communities and one assisted living facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Mazza is a cum laude graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, a licensed, certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and an active member and frequent speaker at AAHSA, WAHSA, CAHSA, and the Oregon Alliance—all of which are non-profit, senior care industry associations. Mary T. Naylor Mrs. Naylor began her career with Rogue Valley Manor in 1989. In 1993, she joined the Pacific Retirement Services staff as Director of Information Systems/Assistant Controller. In less than a year, she was promoted to the position of Controller. In this capacity, she was responsible for the supervision of the Accounting Department staff; the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets; the coordination of the annual audit process; and the maintenance of proper accounting records, policies, and procedures. She then got promoted to the position of PRS Vice President of Finance and was responsible for overseeing the accounting functions for 32 affiliated corporations. Ms. Naylor has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Accounting from Southern Oregon State College. Prior to joining PRS, Ms. Naylor worked for C.P. National Corporation and U.S. Bank. Ms. Naylor now holds the position of Vice President of Development and is responsible for assisting PRS with identification and evaluation of various growth and development initiatives. Tamara Nordin Ms. Nordin is Vice President of Human Resources for both Pacific Retirement Services and Rogue Valley Manor, positions she has held since September 1989. She holds an MBA degree from Southern Oregon University and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Certification Institute of the Society of Human Resource Management. Ms. Nordin is an adjunct instructor for Southern Oregon University (where she teaches Human Resource Management) and Northwest Christian College (where she teaches Human Resource Management and Organizational Development). Kent Phillips Kent Phillips joined Pacific Retirement Services as Vice President of Finance in November 2007. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, his responsibilities include overseeing the financing of new CCRC acquisitions and developments in the East, South and Midwest. Mr. Phillips has served 20 years in senior housing operations and finance, performing financial feasibility and expansion studies, analysis, budgets, strategic planning, the implementation of financial systems, and operations consultation. He was Senior Vice President, Controller and Founder of an owner/operator of senior properties and service businesses, which during his tenure was recognized by INC. MAGAZINE as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. Mr. Phillips holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Debbie Rayburn, NHA, RN Ms. Rayburn began her career with Pacific Retirement Services in February 2006. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Oregon, a Registered Nurse, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Concordia University in Portland. Her accomplished career in nursing management spans 30 years, including 10 years in operations—regionally and as Vice President of Operations—at two different, well-respected Northwest companies in the Senior Living industry. Previously, she managed 26 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in four states, and more recently 42 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in seven states. She’s an accomplished developer and teacher of health care and employee leadership courses, including college-level, and she was author of one of Oregon’s first Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) courses. Paul Riepma Paul Riepma joined Pacific Retirement Services as its new Senior Vice President of Marketing in July 2005, after serving more 25 years in the senior housing industry. For the previous eight years, he was Vice President of Marketing at Greystone Communities, and he served 17 years as Vice President of Marketing at the not-for-profit Adult Communities Total Services, Inc. (ACT)-an organization very similar to PRS. Paul received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor College, and has led the development of nine CCRCs and the management of six resale communities. Bill Sloan Mr. Sloan joined Pacific Retirement Services in November 1999. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Humboldt State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California State University, and he is a Certified Public Accountant in Oregon. Mr. Sloan started his career in the Banking industry with 8 years of experience, and then worked as an auditor for the IRS for 10 years. Previously, he worked at a public accounting firm in Medford, Oregon. Mr. Sloan started at PRS in the position of Financial Director and was promoted to Financial Analyst. In this capacity, he was responsible for the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets; the coordination of the annual audit process; and the maintenance of proper accounting records, policies, and procedures. Mr. Sloan now holds the position of PRS Senior Vice President of Finance and is responsible for directing the Accounting department and for overseeing the accounting functions for more than 32 affiliated corporations. Dena Smith Ms. Smith joined the Marketing and Housing staff of the Rogue Valley Manor in April 1997. Prior to joining Rogue Valley Manor, Ms. Smith worked at Jackson County Title, where she researched property titles, opened and closed escrows, and oversaw escrow disbursement. Since her employment with Rogue Valley Manor, Ms. Smith has worked on a number of construction projects, worked with the marketing department, and worked with the housing development team. In 2001, Ms. Smith was promoted to the Vice President of Housing for Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. In this role, she oversees the development and operations of all the affordable housing facilities. She successfully completed the National Center for Housing Management's Certified Occupancy Specialist. Ms. Smith serves on the Board of Directors as the Vice President of Housing for the Oregon Alliance of Senior and Health Services and is a member of American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Jackie Woodard In September 2007, Jackie Woodard joined Pacific Retirement Services as Vice President of Development. Headquartered in the PRS office in Memphis, Tennessee, her focus is to oversee the development of new CCRCs in the Eastern, Southern, and Midwestern United States. She has served the Senior Living industry for more than 10 years, first as Corporate Network Administrator, then Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Development. In her previous position, she oversaw the project planning, budgets, construction, and execution of development projects, and has been responsible for more than $250 million in start-up CCRC project financings. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Information Systems from The University of Memphis.
