Health Care Career Opportunities Provided by Southern Oregon Health Care Consortium

Caregiver Training

A good way to start your career in the health care field is to become a caregiver. No certification is required and the training is shorter and less expensive than a Nursing Assistant class. Taking an RCC Home Healthcare Provider Training class is a good place to begin. Many employers also provide their own training. Or, you can work privately as an independent caregiver.

Employment opportunities are very good, with a variety of options such as:

  • Independent Caregiver
  • Retirement Homes
  • Caregiver Referral Services
  • State Senior Services
  • Assisted Living Facilities
  • Adult Foster Homes

Pay often starts at minimum wage, but Independent Caregivers can ask for higher amounts depending on experience and working conditions.

Many Independent Caregivers find work by placing themselves on an information list maintained by Providence Medford Medical Center (PMMC). This Providence Caregiving Listing Service is well known.

You must complete an RCC Home Healthcare Provider Training class to be placed on the list for the first time.
