Saratoga Retirement Community Announces New Administrative Team As Construction Nears Completion

(Medford, Oregon/Saratoga, California)
July 19, 2004
– With construction progressing quickly on Saratoga Retirement Community’s (SRC’s) second phase, residents are set to move into their new cottages and apartments beginning in December. Behind the scenes, a new administrative team is in place making sure all the details are set for this extraordinary new continuing care retirement community (CCRC). This eager new team consists of newly appointed Executive Administrator Jeffrey S. Krutzsch, Administrator of Health Services Hung-Chee Chan, and Director of Dining Services Fidel P. Cabuena II.

Jeffrey Krutzsch has joined SRC as the Executive Administrator, overseeing all operational details for the community. He has over twenty-five years experience in systems and operations management for the healthcare and retirement service industries. Prior to joining SRC, Krutzsch was the West Coast Regional Manager for Retirement Housing Foundation in Long Beach, California, overseeing ten retirement communities. He received his degree in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton and is licensed as an administrator in both Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Care. Krutzsch is currently a member of the Health Services Committee of the California Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (CAHSA).

Hung-Chee Chan was recently appointed Administrator of Health Services for SRC, responsible for the daily operations of the Assisted Living program and Health Care Center. He joins SRC from the Meadows of Napa Valley—another community managed by Retirement Services, LLC (RSLLC), which also manages SRC—where he served as Assistant Executive Administrator. Chan holds a master’s degree in business, he is licensed as an administrator in both Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Care, and he has fourteen years of management experience in the senior housing and care industry.

Fidel Cabuena is the new Director of Dining Services for SRC, responsible for planning menus and overseeing all kitchen staff. Prior to joining SRC, Cabuena was the Executive Chef at The Forum San Antonio. He acquired his culinary expertise over the years as chief steward at Holland America cruise lines, as a personal chef for an Archbishop, and as a food-service supervisor at San Joaquin General Hospital. He also opened his own Italian restaurant and attended classes at the Culinary Academy in Napa. In addition, he is an active member of the Dietary Managers Association.

RSLLC is an affiliate of Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. (PRS), which operates a family of affiliated continuing care retirement communities including Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, Oregon; University Retirement Community in Davis, California; La Paloma in La Quinta, California; Holladay Park Plaza in Portland, Oregon; Cascade Manor in Eugene, Oregon; and Trinity Terrace in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, PRS is one of the largest providers of affordable senior housing in the western United States, with twenty-three retirement communities for low-income seniors. The PRS family also includes a community services division and four charitable foundations that benefit residents at PRS communities.
