URC—The Awards Just Keep Coming

We are thrilled with all of the recognition University Retirement Community (URC) has received since its opening," says Executive Director Pat Brown. "To be selected as the winner for The Best of Seniors’ Housing Design in two separate categories is really a pleasure."

The awards, which are sponsored by the National Council on Seniors Housing (NCOSH), are presented each year at the National Association of Home Builders’ Show. At the award ceremony, URC was awarded not one—but two—gold medals! The first medal was presented to URC for being the best large continuing care retirement community (CCRC); the second was to recognize URC for having the best design of common areas within the community.

Bill Parks, the Awards Committee Chairman, began by saying, "Each year, for the past ten years, we have recognized those architectural and interior designs that have brought quality, innovation, and spirit to the field of senior housing. This year, we gather again to honor those projects, which exemplify those qualities that make them leaders in the field of senior housing."

Ken Rohde, who presented the awards to URC, said the judges who selected URC felt that "the overall facility was very comfortable and inviting, and provided an excellent quality of life for the residents."

Pat Brown says, "All of us who work here at University Retirement Community know that this is one of the best communities in the nation. Winning these two awards is a wonderful confirmation of that fact."
