URC Wins Gold Key Award
The Gold Key Awards are now in their 20th year, and this year, the four-judge panel had to select from an unprecedented number of entries. Winners are selected based on the design’s creativity, ingenuity, and execution—so it’s no surprise URC was chosen. Executive Director Pat Brown says, "We had a remarkable group of professionals working together on this project. The talented architectural and interior design teams at Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects, the contractors and crew from Walsh Construction Company, the staff members from Pacific Retirement Services, and the University Retirement Community staff—everyone who contributed to creating this extraordinary community has reason to be proud." Winning the Gold Key Award is certainly an accomplishment, but the more important accomplishment is having created a senior community where residents can truly thrive, and according to the new residents, that’s exactly what the team at University Retirement Community has done. R. J. "Mac" McRosti says, "My wife Virginia and I are very pleased we moved here. The food is very good, the staff is courteous, there’s a wide selection of activities, and there are four levels of care right on campus. Everyone here, staff and residents, give their best, making the community a real home. For us, moving to University Retirement Community was the right decision at the right time." Grand Prize winners and finalists will be featured in the November issues of both Lodging and Hospitality Design magazines. |
