As plans move ahead on the major expansion project at Trinity Terrace, the excitement on campus continues to grow. Everyone—residents, staff, and the Board of Directors—is looking forward to offering the fabulous Trinity Terrace lifestyle to an even greater number of seniors. Brian Young, Trinity Terrace’s Executive Administrator, says, “The research we’ve done shows that there is a clear need for more senior housing in the Fort Worth area. And we’ve been very pleased with the response to the news about adding a second tower.” Brian says that when the first announcement about the expansion was made, Trinity Terrace’s Future Residency Program grew by leaps and bounds as prospective residents lined up to add their names to the waiting list. “People are very excited about the new apartments. They are very large, and they offer spectacular views. Future residents can’t wait to reserve them.” When completed the new tower will be 16 stories high and will add approximately 200,000 square feet of living space to the community. To distinguish between the original building and the new tower, each has been given a name. The existing building is now called the Terrace Tower, and the new one is called the City Tower. A total of 80 new apartments will be added, all of them offering spacious interiors, fine appointments, the latest appliances (including a washer/dryer), and balconies with fabulous views. The City Tower will also add several new common areas including a large Auditorium and a Fitness Center with an Indoor Pool and Spa. Adding these amenities is a special source of pride for everyone at the community. It takes a bit of history to understand why: The origins of Trinity Terrace can be traced back to 1897, when the Cumberland Rest (sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church) was organized to provide housing and care for older adults in the community. Over the next several decades, the Cumberland Rest moved locations several times and grew in both size and scope. In 1975 an Expansion Board was appointed to prepare for the next century. In 1983 they built what is now Trinity Terrace; however, the original plans called for a second tower along with an Indoor Pool, Fitness Center, and the many new common areas being added now. Brian says, “It’s wonderful to see Trinity Terrace now getting all the amenities it was originally destined for. We’re all very happy about it.” Future residents can begin reserving their beautiful apartments in the City Tower as early as March 2006.
