Pacific Retirement Services recently assumed operations of The Peninsula Regent, a sophisticated continuing care retirement community in San Mateo, Calif., just a few miles south of San Francisco. This addition to the PRS family comes on the heels of being selected last year by Arizona State University to develop an urban, high-rise life plan community on its Tempe campus.
The Peninsula Regent had been operated by BRIDGE Housing, a developer and manager of high-quality residential communities, since 1986. Under BRIDGE’s leadership, The Peninsula Regent maintained high occupancy and was recognized for its innovative, hospitality inspired service model for retirement living. However, because demand had grown for BRIDGE’s core work of serving low-income families and seniors, BRIDGE decided in 2016 to find a new manager for its continuing care retirement community.
PRS was selected because it’s well-positioned to serve the long-term interests of The Peninsula Regent and its residents. Not only does PRS have more than 50 years of continuing care experience, its Mirabella brand of senior living provides high-end services and amenities in an urban, walkable environment, which is consistent with the lifestyle enjoyed by residents of The Peninsula Regent.
“Both BRIDGE and I regard PRS highly and the logical choice to ensure a long-term commitment to The Peninsula Regent’s founding vision,” said Marianne Nannestad, executive director of TPR. “The Peninsula Regent has worked with PRS as our marketing consultant since 2010, so we know them well. My leadership team and I will now have greater access to PRS’s broad subject-matter expertise and resources.”
No stranger to the greater Bay Area, PRS operates several successful life plan communities, also known as continuing care retirement communities or CCRCs, in Davis, Napa, Santa Rosa, and Saratoga. “We look forward to growing in this region and expanding our mission of providing excellent leadership to senior living organizations, working together to enhance the aging experience,” said Brian McLemore, chief executive officer of PRS. “Not only can we learn from the successes of The Peninsula Regent, we can share with their team our diverse expertise and well-honed best practices.”
