Karen and her husband David chose to live at Mirabella Seattle almost five years ago. The couple started looking at different retirement community options around that time. “We weren’t interested in moving right away, but we really liked Mirabella when we saw it,” says Karen. “We like the area. We’ve always lived in Seattle. Our social life is downtown with the theatre, symphony, and there are a lot of conveniences. We liked the continuing healthcare aspect of the community too; the fact that there are private rooms for assisted living and skilled nursing if we ever need it.”
When the place they were interested at Mirabella became available, Karen says, “We went for it.” That was nearly five years ago. And since then, they’ve enjoyed the retirement living lifestyle. Only, they’re not retired. Karen says, “I still work, but I don’t get paid any more. I’m a busy volunteer.” She’s active in bar activities at the American Bar Association, Washington State Bar Association, and King County Bar Association. And as president of the Robert Chinn Foundation, she stays busy serving Seattle’s Asian Community with The Asian Resource Center and The Asian Hall of Fame. She serves on a number of boards including the Virginia Mason Medical Center board of governors, and the Washington State Convention Center, and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Seattle, Seattle Museum Supporters and the Rainier Club.
When she’s not busy serving on boards and doing good in the community, Karen says she participates in many of the activities and uses a lot of the services at Mirabella. She likes the movie nights, visits the library often, and takes advantage of the town car and bus services. She uses the fitness center, and does cardio fitness and balance exercises. She’s also very proud of her new hobby and recent achievement with the World Bridge Federation as Life Master. Karen and her husband are happy with their choice for retirement. With the proximity to downtown and the friendly people, Mirabella Seattle is a great combination of location, lifestyle and services for the Wongs.
