Nora Feder-Johnson, 13, turned to her Grandparents, Capitol Lakes residents Bernie and Judy Feder, when looking for a project for her bat mitzvah. The Feder’s along with ten other Jewish residents at Capitol Lakes, are featured in a one-hour film created by Nora titled In the Spirit.
In the film, Nora explores the experiences of the men’s bar mitzvah’s and the lack of a women’s counterpart until more recent times. The modern day bat mitzvah wasn’t available to the earlier generations of Jewish girls.
Nora’s efforts caught the eye of the Wisconsin State Journal where she was featured in an article. Read the full article here In the Spirit: A bat mitzvah project turns into a movie .
