UW Student Recital Season

The Grand Hall will be filled this spring with weeks of beautiful music, courtesy of the UW School of Music students. Residents are welcome to attend all of these fine recitals. Let's give a warm welcome to these young musicians and show our appreciation by being on time, refraining from conversation with your neighbors during the recital, and especially, turning off your cell phones!

Madison Opera

The classic opera "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be presented by Madison Opera on Friday, April 26, 8pm, and Sunday, April 28, 2:30pm, in Overture Hall, Overture Center for the Arts. We are grateful to have received a preview of this performance on April 9 in the Grand Hall. Capitol Lakes will provide a bus to the Sunday, April 28, performance. You are on your own to order and pay for your tickets for the performance of your choice. Call 238-8085, or go in person to the Box Office. (Phone in advance to learn box office hours.) See to consult seating options and prices. Sign up at the MainGate desk for the bus to the Opera on April 28.

Tornado Notice

In the event of a tornado watch or warning, Capitol Lakes will inform residents of Independent Living through our emergency notification system, "One Call Now". Residents who wish to seek shelter away from their apartment, may do so in one of the designated tornado shelters on the lower levels of MainGate and Heights. These areas are identified with a tornado shelter sign.

Health Tips from the Health Services Committee

Carry a medical ID at all times. It can be a medallion or bracelet or just a card in your wallet or purse. Include your doctor's name, an emergency contact, and your medical conditions, medications, and drug allergies.

Adventure Trips

All trips depart from the Henry St. Circle entrance, which has been re-opened following the completion of the remodeling project. Sign up at the MainGate desk starting the Friday before the departure date, unless otherwise indicated.

We'll stop for lunch at Rookies, a nearby restaurant. Sign up now.

April 30, 8:30 AM - Wisconsin Historic Site: Villa Louis Tour, Prairie Du Chien Please be sure to note the early 8:30 AM departure!

They will not yet be open to the public so our group will get a very pleasant experience without any other visitors intruding and really have the whole site to ourselves! The cost for fruit, coffee, scones, and the tour is $15 per person. Sign up now - we will take two buses if necessary.
