Resident-Centered Approach

One of the things that has made PRS a leader in the senior-living sector is that everyone who works for the corporation has a very clear understanding of what today’s independent-minded seniors are looking for, and they put those needs and desires first and foremost in everything.

Brian McLemore, PRS President/CEO says, “We learned a very long time ago that if you create communities where the residents’ best interests always come first, those communities will be successful. And by ‘successful’ I mean, they will be beautiful places to live; comfortable places to live; peopled with interesting residents and friendly, talented staff; and outfitted with latest technology in wellness, health care, and everything else.”

“When I say ‘successful’ I also mean that the community will be a place where people really want to live—a place where they are choosing to move to because of all of the wonderful things it offers. Another aspect of success,” says Brian, “is that we deliver everything to residents at the best possible price point. Because we have a family of affiliated communities, we’re able to take advantage of economies of scale, which thereby enables us to pass along savings to residents.”

“And,” says Brian, “Because all of our communities not-for-profit, we are mandated to take all profits and reinvest them in the community itself. This is a very different model than the for-profit model, where profits are taken out and divided among shareholders. At PRS communities, our residents are, in a sense, our shareholders.”
