URC/Sutter Davis Affiliation Provides Added Benefits

Continuing its mission to offer residents access to the best in services and care, University Retirement Community (URC) has formed an affiliation with its neighbor, Sutter Davis Hospital. This collaborative venture offers URC residents a variety of benefits over and above those provided for in their continuing care contracts.

Conveniently located across the street from URC, Sutter Davis Hospital is part of an integrated network of 24 hospitals. It has consistently scored in the top 25 percent in patient satisfaction scores, according to the nationally based Parkside Survey.

As part of the affiliation, Sutter Davis offers URC residents a variety of support services right on campus. In Assisted Living and the Health Care Center, Sutter Davis has been contracted to provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and they have moved a mobile X-ray machine to URC so they can provide access to radiology services within URC's Health Care Center. In addition, URC residents have access to Sutter Davis's visiting nurses, and Sutter Davis Hospital preregisters URC residents into the Sutter system. If a resident elects to preregister, they will receive a VIP card, which will expedite any necessary services provided at the hospital.

The affiliation also includes a contractual arrangement with Sutter West Medical Group (a group of Sutter-aligned physicians) to provide the services of URC's Medical Director, Dr. Jim Schieberl.

Because Sutter Davis is so close to URC, it provides easy access to quality medical, emergency, diagnostic, and hospital services. However, it's important for residents to understand they still have a choice in who their doctor is and which hospital they choose to go to for nonemergency care. This affiliation does not limit anyone's choices.
