Continuing Care – Security for Your Future

Continuing Care – Security for Your Future

University Retirement Community (URC) is a wonderful place to live an actively engaged life, now, and into the future even if your health care needs change over time. That's because URC is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or "CCRC" as this type of community is often referred to.

As a CCRC, University Retirement Community is a unique retirement option that offers residents a fully independent Residential Living lifestyle when they move in. That means residents live in their own private Apartment Home or Cottage, come and go as they please, and stay involved in the activities and hobbies that they've always enjoyed. There's also a wealth of activities, events, and programs offered on-campus at URC, so residents can explore new pastimes and meet new people. In addition, our comprehensive Wellness Program is designed to help residents stay as healthy and active as they possibly can.

Best of all, URC residents enjoy a "maintenance-free lifestyle" because they no longer have to worry about home maintenance, yard work, or housekeeping. These chores are taken care of by our friendly URC staff. Plus, residents don't have to worry about cooking meals because our Dining Services staff prepares a selection of delicious soups, salads, entrees, side dishes, and desserts each day.

All of these elements work together, providing URC residents with an exceptional independent lifestyle. And, because we are a CCRC, we also offer something that is, quite literally, priceless: the security of knowing that by moving to URC, you've taken care of your future needs.

Continuing Care – Security for Your Future

That's because as a CCRC, URC offers all levels of care on campus. If you ever need short-term transitional care, you can continue to live in your Apartment Home or Cottage while our Care Giving Program provides the assistance you need to recover. Over time, if you begin to need ongoing medication management or help with daily activities, you can move to one of our spacious Assisted Living apartments here on campus (see photo at left).

In addition, if your needs continue to increase over time, you'll have the peace-of-mind of knowing that you (or your children) won't have to struggle finding a place that can provide the care you require. Our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is Medicare Certified and provides outstanding care and services. We also have our own Memory Care center, which is designed for residents with Alzheimer's and other types of cognitive impairment.

Our residents tell us that moving to URC is one of the best decisions they've ever made, and that they consider it a gift to their children. Pictured at right is URC resident Carol Sconyers. By visiting our website and viewing the resident testimonials, you can hear Carol tell you this herself. You can also hear her, and many other URC residents, tell you about the wonderful people, the fine dining, the activities, and the extraordinary URC lifestyle.

Research Us through Social Media

We know that finding the right CCRC can be a bit challenging. You're probably asking the advice of friends and family members, researching options on the Internet, and making on-site visits. Have you considered using social media to round out your research?

URC has Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites that you're welcome to visit at any time, day or night.

  • On our Facebook page, you'll see announcements of recent and upcoming events, including photos. Residents and future residents are encouraged to post their comments or ask questions. "Like" our Facebook page and you'll feel as if you're already a member of the URC family.
  • Through our Twitter feed, you'll have another way to see what's happening at URC every month.
  • On our YouTube channel, you'll see personal testimonials from some of our residents.

For a taste of everyday life here at URC—and to meet some of your future neighbors and friends—please visit any of these social media pages. If you see an upcoming resident event that you'd like to attend, call 530-747-7001.
