University Retirement Community (URC) is honored to have residents, staff, and contributing vendors who enthusiastically volunteer and participate in Foundation events and activities throughout the year. The following yearly events are held as Resident Fund Raisers, with proceeds going directly into programs and services that benefit URC residents.
Annual Theme Dinner
Each year, a group of resident volunteers, working with URC staff members, hosts a festive dinner event in the Auditorium. It’s always a grand affair, with fabulous food, live entertainment, dancing, and community spirit.
Residents are invited to indulge in all the Dungeness crab they can eat while they enjoy the company of fellow residents. The Dining Services Team goes all out for this fun event!
URC offers its own in-house convenience store called Our Nook. Residents can stop by for sundries such as toothpaste, aspirin, or other items. The store is managed by the foundation committee and staffed by URC resident volunteers.
This program allows individuals to donate a car they no longer need or use to the Foundation. Or, they can sell their car themselves, and donate the proceeds or a portion of the proceeds to the Foundation.
Residents, staff, and the citizens of the greater Davis community always look forward to this event, which is like an enormous garage sale. Resident volunteers contribute countless hours in collecting, organizing, pricing, and staffing the Bazaar. Each year, nearly 1,000 people come to shop, generating tens of thousands of dollars for the Foundation.
